Capernaum Trades in Computers for a Tool Belt and Hammer

January 9, 2002 -

Capernaum employees set down their laptops, left their computers, PDA's and cell phones (well some kept their cell phones) and participated in HabiJax's "Fabulous February Borty" build project. This initiative was the second largest build that HabiJax has ever attempted and all 40 homes were completed. The folks from Capernaum were responsible for vinyl siding an entire house and took to the job like seasoned pros (at least by the fourth attempt).

HabiJax is the Habitat for Humanity chapter of Jacksonville. Its mission is to eliminate poverty and substandard living conditions in Duval County. Since being founded in 1988, Habijax has assisted over 850 families to escape the cycle of poverty housing. Over 1,800 children now live in HabiJax homes and this year, HabiJax expects to move 202 families out of sub-standard, poverty housing and into a new home.
